The critical path can move during execution

Unlike repetitive manufacturing, ETO/MTO work often has changing dependencies. Engineering can become critical early, material later, and inspection or documentation near shipment. Static milestone reporting can miss this movement.

Order-line granularity matters

Large industrial orders may contain many lines with different configurations, dates and dependencies. One late line can hold the shipment or create contractual exposure.
